It's very discouraging to apply to job after job after job and not even hear anything back from most of them. I'm overqualified for so much of the work that's posted, and not nearly qualified enough for the rest of it, it seems. I obviously can't get a job in medicine, and it's surprising how many of those types of positions are open in this area! A vast majority of the job postings I see are medical, sales (over my dead body), military recruitment, or "business opportunities". Ugh. This sucks.

Job Hunting Is Depressing
It's very discouraging to apply to job after job after job and not even hear anything back from most of them. What kind of art do you like to do? Think there's a way to go into business for yourself? (I might have some ideas too....)
ReplyDeleteI can't actually do the vast majority of the art I like. My preference is pottery, and I have neither the equipment nor the space to practice it. I don't even have a garage I can convert. :( I wish I was a better photographer. That doesn't take up a lot of space (assuming it's all digital and I don't need a darkroom, that is) and there is usually a decent market for it.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry! I know it's hard. But I'm a firm believer that everyone winds up where they are meant to be. You will find the job you are meant to have. (But you may need to move.)
ReplyDeleteYes, I believe that's right, you will find a job you're meant to have, but I also think lots of folks don't wanna budge, they just wanna stay put to have it nice and easy and nonoe discomfort of moving to a strange territory and they miss out and I ain't one of them. And that's a fact.
ReplyDeleteJob hunting is the worst, most personally painful experience ever. I feel for ya.
