PhotoHunt: Purple

This is a close-up of my butterfly bush.  I love these tiny little purple flowers and all the butterflies and hummingbirds they attract! I'd love to get a rainbow butterfly bush one day.

PhotoHunt: Memorial

We have a nice memorial in the park next to the Surfside Library.  I thought it was perfect to use for this week's PhotoHunt and as a tribute for all those who have served their country!  It was a pretty windless day for the most part, but I was lucky enough to have a breeze come along just in time to unfurl the flags enough for me to get a picture! There is even a nice fountain in the middle of it all, and a seating wall so you can sit and soak it all in.

These are some of the goodies I have from when I completed the Myrtle Beach Half Marathon last year!

PhotoHunt: Mothers/Moms

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY TO ALL YOU MOM'S OUT THERE!

Okay, I'm a day early, but this week's PhotoHunt is a tribute to Moms, so I figured I'd get the well-wishing in now too.  So Happy Mom's Day!

Here is a picture of me with my Mom just before my wedding in October 2003.

My Mom waxing playful on the scaffolding built onto the porch roof at the house in Lynchburg.  We were trying to finish some roofing work on the second floor.  While Mom and I are posing for pictures, Dad is actually working.  :)

And this is Mom relaxing in a rocking chair in the yard at my brother and sister-in-law's house on Thanksgiving last year.  Many hands make light work: everyone brought a dish and helped get dinner put together, so we were all able to enjoy the day.  Even the dogs in the background look super relaxed!

PhotoHunt: Broken

This is what happened to a friend's door after she went out of town to visit friends and family one weekend.  One of her (possibly crazy) neighbors called the police and told them she thought my friend was going to harm herself.  Nobody had any clue what made the neighbor come to that conclusion. They must have been hitting the sauce pretty hard that weekend!

Notice the crappy patch job the police did to repair the door after they realized nobody was home. I guess it was too much to ask for them to open the storm door before battering in her front door. Needless to say, the police in her town are a little too gung-ho and get a little stupid when the power of their positions goes to their head.  They could have at least cleaned up the glass.  Morons.

PhotoHunt: Spotted

The pebbles and rocks on this black sand beach look like spots upon spots!  This was taken at Wainapanapa Beach State Park on Maui.

A beautifully spotted and speckled Whale Shark off the shore of Maui.  This curious friend came by to get a peek at our boat as we were out on a whale watching tour.

PhotoHunt: Lick

I swear Pixie has the longest tongue I have ever seen.  She can reach out and lick your face from across the room!  She just woke up from a nap in this picture and I caught her in a yawn followed by a lick.

PhotoHunt: Twelve

Okay, I totally cheated on this one.  I couldn't get the 12 pictures I had in mind (and there were very few ideas indeed!) so I just threw together a collage of sorts.

PhotoHunt: Fast

This is a compound miter saw that was on display at Lowe's.  The blade spins at 3,400 RPM.  Sounds pretty fast to me!

Do you know what else is fast?

Santa's Sleigh!  How else would the Jolly Old Elf get around the world to deliver toys in one night?

PhotoHunt: Undesirable

Who knew I'd find a use for THIS picture?  This is a tentacle that washed up on shore at a beach in Hawaii. I'm not sure what made me think I needed to have a picture of it! See how the pebbles are sticking to it? It even comes with its own fly (see top right corner). Ew!

PhotoHunt: Curved

I took this picture in Covington, KY in September.  This fence surrounds a pretty little park right on the river.  I thought of it right away when I got to this week's theme, Curved.  :)
